THERES MUSIC IN THE AIR

Not a lot of things come to mind when thinking of the sound of life as… nothing.

Life always has sound traveling through its vibrations the light that comes with a song you love, or the bond between two romantic beings over Steve Lacy. The words of life are as follows: go be who you are. In relation to music, you find your mood through a song, play a persona when you sing the song. When you send someone a song, a language is spoken between you and this person, and each of you interprets the song based on your idea of music. Romantically, it’s a way to flirt, an icebreaker actually. I tell you what I like through a song, and you tell me your most toxic trait through melodies. This song could be sent to you from across the world, but the moment you listen to it and resonate or understand the words the person is trying to tell you there’s a sync.
In fashion, the garments move like waves of sound through a flowing dress; it’s the breathability in the shirt you dance in. There has always been music everywhere: the birds communicating with each other from park to park, the sound of hot water rushing from the shower, spiritual prayer in a body of water. Everything you can hear is music. Its visual representation comes from body movement, a dance, an excited jump, the seriousness of a story told with hand gestures. Have you ever imagined a world without music, the silence of it all? There’s nothing wrong with thinking, in fact, it’s welcomed in prayers of the mind and soul. The ancestors passed down faith songs in troubled times or wedding chants about everlasting love between two people.
Fashion and music are inseparable. Both are languages of identity, both invite us to play roles, both create bonds across distance. Together, they remind us: style is sound, sound is story, and every look is a lyric waiting to be heard.
Music is the embodiment of many things in life, but the ritual it carries is one of universal connection the bond that can form from a shared playlist or a dance with an ex.
